VP Records — the world’s largest independent reggae label — is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2026, marking four and a half decades of extraordinary service to Jamaican music. Founded in 1977 by Vincent “Randy” Chin and Patricia Chin in Queens, New York, VP has grown from a single record store on Jamaica Avenue into a global music empire controlling over 25,000 titles including the Greensleeves Records catalog. Named Billboard’s Reggae Label of the Year in 1999, VP has been the launching pad for dozens of Jamaica’s most celebrated artists across five decades. To celebrate, VP has announced a special box set featuring 45 essential catalog tracks, a documentary film tracing its history, and special events throughout 2026.
