If Princess Tiah could wave a proverbial magic wand, it would be to rid Jamaica of crime and violence, making the country safer for young people to grow up, live and be free.
Her debut single “Free” for Work of Hearts Production is upbeat, message-driven and hopeful about Jamaica becoming almost crime-free
again like in the old days.
A perfect blend of musical genres-dancehall, club, and rap, “Free” is refreshingly inspirational, with an infectious beat that beckons to take over the dancefloor.
Co-written by Princess Tiah, the song is a first for the first runner-up in the 2009 Digicel Rising Star competition, and so far her star is steadily rising.
“I wanted something cultural with an upbeat techno club feel, so that people could listen and dance to it at the same time. I wanted to try something new and different” she explains.
Influencing the young for better through the music, is one of the main priorities that Princess Tiah has on her lifetime list to achieve. This she does by teaming up with Chicago’s newest sixteen year-old rap sensation A.O.N., already living up to his moniker “Ambitious Or Nothing”, with a shared commitment of directing young people to the right path.
“Basically I am making a plea through the music for all the young people to done with the violence. We need to talk up, because if one young person can listen to my song and ‘move’ in the right direction, then it would have done a lot” stresses Princess Tiah.
Concerning the collaboration with A.O.N. she says: “I am elated. I really love it. He makes a good contribution, because it is exciting and relates to me as a teen. We share and have big hopes for the future in the music industry. So we have that in common.”
She is happy with her current management team at Work of Hearts Production and their professional diligence in helping to steer her musical career from the local to international stage.
“I left Negril because I wanted more, and I dropped in the hands of some real people at Work of Hearts Production who just request that I put my all into everything I have to do. So I give thanks because not many people get the chance to work with such a team” Princess Tiah ended.
