Reggae4i.com is a service spearheaded by long-time reggae/world music industry pro Kyle Russell (click on his name to see his detailed bio in the Featured Artists section). His vision, as well as that of this site, is to promote conscious artists, whatever their origin, but within the context of the community that has rippled outward from his presence in the biz.
The name Reggae4i is a play on the "fari" of Rastafari, and a reference to Reggae being for "I" (in the larger sense: ie. His Majesty); and for "i" (in the smaller sense: ie. the individual). It's meant to be sufficiently "generic" as to be a catch-all for many different aspects of the genre, a growing number of which are highlighted on the site. We hope visitors will give us feedback as to which ways we can improve the site's utility and attractiveness for them.
Going online in 2000, but really being rebirthed in July of 2005, Reggae4i is largely been an "arm" of Russell's "parent" company KRucial Reggae, whose primary projects have been the development of the various Dub Station (and associated) Reggae Artists. Hence, the "undue" (or well-deserved) "props" given to those who've worked closely with KRucial Reggae, from "local" artists (to his Boston base), to regional bands, and touring acts who've passed through, or whom Russell's booked nationally (and internationally).
But truly, Reggae4i has broader ambitions of being a go-to site, not only for KRucial Reggae artists, but for others related by friendship or vibes. In discussion are a broadened Events page highlighting shows across the country (and globe); fee for download in the extensive Audio & Visual Gallery section; and a variety of new links, etc.
Stay tuned for changes, as Reggae4i gets updated weekly, and so, too do text blocks and explanations like these...
