Jamaican Reggae Singer Nando Launches Get Better Campaign

November 1, 2011

Spurred by a recent article in the Jamaica Observer that is in tune with his top-ten single Get Better, Jamaican reggae/urban singer Nando has partnered with the fledgling One Jam Foundation to launch his Get Better Campaign.  Eleven weeks after entering the Reggae Vibes Jamaica Top 20 Reggae ChartGet Better, an anthem for single moms and all women striving to raise their children without sacrificing their values, has continued its steep ascent and now occupies the number 4 spot on the Chart.   In keeping with the theme of Get Better and their objective to use music as a positive tool for individual and social change , Nando & One Jam have also launched the Get Better Campaign, which  is geared towards helping mainly single mothers and children to continue pursuing their dreams in the arts, education, and sports.

The immediate focus of the Campaign will be to raise USD 2,000 to help a single mum, Sharnette Daley, who was featured in the Jamaica Observer on October 12, register for classes towards her degree at the University of the West Indies.  Ms Daley lost her husband early in 2011 and has been raising her son singlehandedly since then; however, a lack of finances may force her to deregister from University as she has been unable to acquire the USD 2,500 required to pay the tuition.  Nando and One Jam have partnered with online fundraising site Chipin.com to raise USD 2,000 towards Ms. Daley’s tuition.  Persons wishing to contribute can click on the following link Get Better for University.  Once on the site, you will be able to click on the “Chip In” icon on the right side of the screen.  You will be carried to a page where you can make contributions securely using either credit card or PayPal.  Donors can also visit One Jam’s new Facebook fanpage to receive a free download of Get Better.   With our support, “things are gonna Get Better for Ms. Daley.”
