Soul of the Lion is pleased to announce the nomination of Itation Records for 2008 Label of the
Year and 2008 Roots Riddim of the Year by UnitedReggae.com. Itation started 2008 riding
waves of appreciation for its Higher Meditation riddim (2007). Itation’s formula for live
instruments, deep reggae bass lines, catchy melodies and a knack for robust, powerful
productions from reggae’s brightest, as well as rising stars, quickly set Itation apart from the rest
and launched Itation to the forefront of roots reggae music worldwide in 2008.
Early in 2008, Itation followed up on the Higher Meditation with the Show Love riddim
(released in March 2008). Featuring Carlos “Santa” Davis and crucial contributions from Lustre
Kings and More Love Productions, The Show Love riddim emphasizes the universal appeal of
timeless roots messages with a modern one-drop riddim. The World Go Round riddim (released
in August 2008), created in cooperation with France’s Tune In Crew, confirmed Itation’s place in
the upper echelon of roots reggae. The World Go Round combines an up-tempo mix of modern
roots reggae with an energetic melody and meaningful, compelling lyrics from Pressure, Kallie
Blaxx, Jah Mason, Delly Ranx and more. The World Go Round was featured on World Music
Central, Record Review (Hungary), Galaxie Reggae (Canada), Reggae.fr (France). The riddim
hit #4 on the TPN Top 20 album chart in Italy and Sizzla’s track, “Goodness”, peaked at #6.
Looking ahead to 2009, Itation is picking up the pace. Blazing new riddims and an album with
Delly Ranx are now being prepared for release. Reggae fans and music lovers world wide will
be encouraged by what they are about to hear.
UnitedReggae.com is an international reggae magazine with news, interviews, reviews, articles,
books, movies, artists’ biographies and discographies launched in October 2007. The United
Reggae Awards are determined by reggae fans world wide and recognize those working hard to
keep Reggae music vibrant in 2008. Any recording released between 1st January 2008 and 31st
December 2008 is eligible for the 2008 awards. Voting for The United Reggae Awards will be
announced January 31, 2009.
