Gay Advocates Latest Campaign Leads To Sizzla Losing Gigs

Gay Advocates Latest Campaign Leads To Sizzla Losing GigsHBN, LONDON, England, Thurs. Nov. 4: The record label of reggae star, Sizzla or Miguel Orlando Collins, is remaining mum of the latest assault by gay advocates that have left their artist out in the cold in Britain.

Continuing its campaign against anti-gay lyrics among reggae?s elite, OutRage, the British-based gay rights group, won another battle in their war after tour promoters for Sizzla canceled three of his five-date gigs.

The group had threatened to protest the Milton Keynes, Birmingham and Bristol venues if Sizzla performed and complained to police that the singer is inciting murder, a criminal offense in the U.K.

The singer will now perform in Bradford and east London as long as he guarantees tour venue managers he will not sing homophobic, racist or sexist lyrics.

?Sizzla Kalonji does not merely express his disapproval of homosexuality,” said Brett Lock of OutRage! and the Stop Murder Music campaign in a statement. “He calls for all homosexuals to be killed and incited his listeners to murder gays and lesbians. This goes way beyond an acceptable expression of opinion. Lesbian and gay people have a right to live their lives free from threats to kill them.”

Sizzla is the latest star to be targeted by the group. Police are already reportedly examining lyrics by Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Capleton, TOK, Vybz Kartel and Buju Banton “to determine whether any criminal offence has been committed.?
Gay-bashing mainstream singers have remained virtually unnoticed by the group which to date, has only targeted black reggae singers from Jamaica.
