Chicago prepares for the 5th annual Bob Marley tribute being hosted by TRC Events, Inc., on Wednesday May 10th at 10 pm. This celebration will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Reggae Great – Bob Marley at the Joe’s Sports Bar on Weed Street. The BBC named Bob Marley’s “One Love†song, song of the millennium. Bob Marley and the Wailers was also listed on MSNBC’s “top rock bands of all timeâ€Â. Regional and local Chicago artists will be paying tribute to this icon of the 20th Century.
Some of the Mid-West artists performing are Hydro Band, Spectrum Reggae Band, Drunken Monkee, Kofi and Zion.
For the first time in over 15 years, non of the reggae clubs on Clark Street will have live performances on Wednesdays. This came as a shock and disappointment to TRC Events who will now present live reggae music every Wednesday night at Joe’s on Weed Street. “We hope the Marley tribute will be a catalyst for live reggae at Joe’sâ€Â, says Albert Harris of TRC Events.
Doors open at 10pm and show time is 11 pm. Tickets available for $10 at Joe’s on Weed Street and Ticketmaster. For more information contact TRC Events, Inc. at 773-294-9371, Joe’s Sports Bar at 312-337-3486 or visit www.dancehall101.com for details.
