Silverback has gained a reputation in the music industry by finding artists at the early stage of their career: and developing them into successful music entities. Most of Silverback’s clients garner success on independent labels prior to attempting to have commercial success at a major label. We have a history of developing acts into self-sufficient touring entities that sell anywhere from 40:000-60:000 records independently. Silverback believes that to be in business in today’s music industry climate: you need to perform all tasks including management: marketing: merchandising: recording and releasing music. Silverback Management/silverbackmusic.net: Silverback Management was started in 1996 while Jon Phillips: who was doing A&R for Gasoline Alley: took over management duties on Sublime: who he both discovered and signed in 1993. In 1998 Jon Phillips joined forces with his brother Matt and took on two new clients -Long Beach Dub All Stars and Slightly Stoopid. Silverback currently has 5 bands under management contracts (Sublime: Slightly Stoopid: Pepper: Fishbone: and Mishka). Caliplates Recording INC: Our first release on the record label will be Slightly Stoopid’s 5th LP: “Closer to the Sun.†After handling all the marketing and promotion for the band: whose catalogue has sold over 100:000 records with limited distribution and no marketing budgets: we have now acquired major distribution through BMG. The release of Slightly Stoopid’s “Closer To The Sun:†is anticipated to reach a sales plateau of over 100:000 copies and will cement our new imprint into rock n roll culture: as this is a highly anticipated release from one of California’s premiere music attractions. Our label specializes in recording budget conscious albums from $35:000-$80:000. With our built in database and street marketing: we target to sell anywhere from 20:000-60:000 records per release. “Closer to the Sun†hits stores April 19th: 2005 thru BMG distribution: in conjunction with Marc Geiger (Artist Direct/William Morris): and Coran Capshaw’s (Music Today/ATO records/Dave Matthews Band) new company- Reincarnate/BMG.
