My name is Balewa: born Anthony Blair I was born and grew up in Carty Hill Dist.: James Hill Clarendon. I lived in Clarendon right next to Barrington Levy. I spent a lot of time going around Jamaica with him. He taught me lots of things about music when I would dj on the sound systems in the community. He and his friends used to call me Sledge because I always mash up the dance hall when I touch the mic. I left the county when I was fourteen and went to Ocho Rios to live with my older brother. For the first year I was living with my big brother Humroy working at the same company doing welding!! Then I sell sky juice: oranges and more at the clock in Ocho Rios every night except Tuesday because Tuesdays I would go to The James Ave with my big brother to sing. I do all of that for three years. I start a age 15 until I was 18. I left the streets and started to work on the beach doing water sports: making and selling beaded jewelry. It was blessed working on the beach because I get to run every day and sing so I would have lots of stamina. So I work on the beach for one year and eventually I got to leave Jamaica and come to America. I moved to San Diego: California. I was living here for a year then I decided to start my own business: RASTA ROOTS: selling Jamaican music and crafts at a local swap meet and on the Internet. I’ve been doing this for a few years as well as singing at the reggae clubs. I love music VERY MUCH. When I move to America: I come with no friends or family. I know no ones and no where. Music was every tings for me. The only friends and family I have was music. Music keeps me so strong being so far away from home. I learn much from the music about how to live. In order to achieve my goals I have to work. I never forget where I am coming from: be my self and don\
