Born and raised on the Bahamian Island of Andros: Ras Bashan discovered at a young age that he had a passion for writing music- it soon became his mission in life to bring forward his talent: and spread the message of Rastafari by doing Righteous and Positive music. In his teenage years: he moved to Sarasota: Florida: and formed a rap group called “Po’Hustlers.†In 1993: the group was an opening act for Uncle Luke and the Poison Clan in Alabama. Bashan later ended the group to pursue his true passion: which is Reggae music. In 2000: he founded a new group named Creasons (Sons of the Creator): mixing Roots: Culture: Dancehall: with a little flavor of Hip-Hop and R&B. Soon after the group began working on their album: for which Bashan wrote most of the songs. In 2001: the group began collaborating with a new independent local record label: Original Records. Creasons was an opening act for Beenie Man: Lady Saw: and T.O.K. in 2001 at Jannus Landing in St Petersburg: Florida. The group also traveled to Miami: Daytona: Gainesville: and Atlanta to promote their forthcoming album. Unfortunately: in 2002 the group split up due to internal problems between the group members. Ras Bashan then decided to go on a solo career: and has since been working on his solo album: scheduled to be released in 2004: and he is still working with Original Records. His first release will be the radio anthem “Special Request’: which explains his love for women in a respectful way: on the “Liquid Riddim.†Original Records is proud to introduce Ras Bashan: and be ready for true consciousness inspired by the power of the Most High! Jah Rastafari!
