<p>It was the 03.03.1970 in Montego Bay Jamaica in the parish of St. James, a little Princess was born to the proud parents of Ena Delene Barnett Minto and Lloyd VanHorne. At the tender age of ten Princess entered a Dee-jay competition that was being held at the Palladium Theatre in Mo.Bay, however this young rising star had performed many times before at school functions, singing on the church choir also in and around town whenever she got a chance to. </p>
<p>Her performance in the competition placed her second, but being the little fire kid that she was (after-all her nickname was mada peppa) Princess decided second was not good enough and so the following week she re-entered the contest, this time walking away with first prize, and so this was the beginning of a great musical journey. </p>
<p>Lady Princess mentors or the people who influenced her life were: the late great <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=26">Robert Nesta Marley</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=28">Daddy U-Roy</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=58">Delroy Wilson</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1246">J.C. Lodge</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=2467">Carlene Davis</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=608">Pam Hall</a>, but in particular the I-Threes especially <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=627">Marcia Griffiths</a>. Encouraged by her mom, family and friends Princess went in pursuit of her dreams. Performing with artist such as Papa Ritchie, Pants Sony, Jackie Rider, on sounds like ticker tone and super mix hi-fi. One of her most notable performance was at a beach party that was kept on Fletcher's Beach in Mo.Bay when Princess got to share the stage with <a href="artistDetail.jsp?aid=425">Yellowman</a> or King Yellow as he was called at the time. Also travelling to places like: Trelawny, Bouge, Rosemount, Hanover, Glendevon, Falmouth, anywhere there was a crowd little Princess would be found amazing dazzling the audience. </p>
<p>By age thirteen Princess migrated to Montreal, Canada to live with her mother and sister. Her musical career developed as she worked with bands such as Jah Cutta and the determination band, Jah Children Band, various sounds and bands in and out of Montreal, also for a while she worked with Jah Man Productions. In May of 1987 Lady Princess moved to Toronto and has made it her home ever since. Over the years Princess has performed with artists such as: <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=716">Brigadier Jerry</a>, Liberty Silver, Prince Everald, Nana Mcclean, Errol Blackwood and The Messenger Band, Mitchie Mee, Charlie Chaplin, Ritchie Lou, Donna Makeda, Bush Rat, Little Madoo, Cold as Ice, Lady Luscious Woman a Run Tings Band, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1367">Tiger</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=634">Josey Wales</a>, Sweet Sensation Band, Ants Man, Devon Irie, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1825">Pad Anthony</a>, Oliver Samuels, Ms. Lou (Louise Bennett), Carla Marshall & Amp; <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=741">Leroy Sibbles</a> are some of the artists this mellow Pisces lady had has the pleasure of sharing the stage with. </p>
<p>In 1992 Lady P. won a trophy for a rap contest that was held at West Humber Collegiate Institute while attending school there. She has also been nominated in the Canadian Reggae Music Awards. Princess' hobbies include : writing, reading, swimming, table tennis, playing pool and of course listening to music. Lady P. admits that being a Piscean she loves the ocean and that being close to the water brings her a feeling of serenity tranquility, and so often she takes time out to be by her-self to really breathe, gather her thoughts and rejuvenate. </p>
<p>A writer of music, short stories, poetry Princess is a multi-talented artist who accredits her passion, zest and love for music to her mom who passed away in July of 2000. <em>My mother was my biggest fan, I love her dearly.</em> The mother of four, Princess has been blessed with four princesses and one prince. Recently Lady Princess combined her acting skills and her musical talent when she co-starred in Masani Montique dance-hall play Soundclash in March of 2002. </p>
