Higher Ground Movement

Eric Leon Dauphin AKA ROOTS IRIC: first heard Bob Marley at age 9. Unaware of the social impact of reggae music until many years later. Roots began buying records in 1985. The first real influence was Prince Far I and Bim Sherman. Occasionally: Iric would make mix tapes with lots of dub such as Augustus Pablo or Jah Woosh dub versions. This was before the purchase of a mixer: so the tape would be paused and samples of speechs: movies: obscure records: and different things were added between songs to make for a musical adventure and higher conscious awareness. In 1992 Roots started playing in various reggae bands. Being a singer: drummer: bass player: keyboard player: percusionist: and sound engineer proved to be rewarding. Roots shared the stage with many artist such as Burning Spear: Culture: Itals: Sister Carol: Peter Broggs: Sugar Minott: Mighty Diamonds: Ras Pidow: and the list goes on. All the while Roots continued to collect records and began selecting at shows and private parties. NATURAL HEALING TRIBE from Asheville: NC was the last: ending in 2000 as a wonderful learning experience. In 1997 Roots linked up with Dj Jah Seh and started Higher Ground Movement. Jah Seh from Cincinatti was at that time with Hard Ground Sound and Roots Iric had Higher Reasoning Disco with Tefka Dawidaw as MC. They formed HIGHER GROUND so that the Dancehall community and Roots community could gather at local dances. It was a huge success and up to present day no sound has ever brought more people to the dance than HIGHER GROUND. Up to the times: Roots is working with his cousin Sage from NY on creating the hottest beats for the HIGHER GROUND artist Leggo Cash AKA Chiwawa Stud and SAS both artist born and grow in Jamaica. Roots is also in the works on some new material and the mixing styles of ROOTS IRIC and JAH SEH are always fresh sometimes it\
