Genie Slick

Born Elisia Ellis, this young lady's talent was evident from a young age. It was precisely because of her youth that her mother did not want her to venture into the entertainment industry. But as the saying goes wild horses couldn’t drag her away from the stage.

At the age of 13 she performed on her first stage show in Spanish Town after charming the M.C. who later called her on state. The crowd’s response was overwhelmingly positive and from that moment the once kindled fire became a roaring flame. Genie knew she was destined for fame. After the show this brazen young talent boldly introduced herself to Freddie McGregor who gave her mother a business card. Genie’s first recording experience was at Big Ship Studio. Even though the single was never released Genie’s faith in herself could not be shattered. She continually found herself backstage before the show, approaching either M.C. or other entertainers in order to ensure herself moments in the spotlight.

Although encouraged my Lady Saw who didn’t hesitate to share the spotlight with this budding young talent, Genie was unfortunately taken from Jamaica to live with her mother in Barbados. Ever versatile, ever sure of her talent and destiny she ventured into the Soca scene. Mashing up Barbados with her Soca energy. It was during this time that she once again found her way backstage before Shaggy was set to perform. She was then introduced to Colin Levy of “Kings of Kings Productions” who was the promoter of said event. As Mr. Levy recorded in Jamaica she was encouraged to present herself there in order to record some demos. Returning to Jamaica she didn’t miss a beat and once again began her foray into reggae music. As her desire was not only to perform but also to create music she started taking guitar lessons. One year later she has advanced remarkably well with her new musical endeavor. Genie has a single released with Capleton, a recently finished tour with the Kings of Kings Family” and is presently working on her debut C.D. “The Word Is Out”. Writer, composer, arranger and most of all top notch entertainer, this is one star whose time has come to shine.
