Formerly dubbed “The Perth Diva” by West Coast hip-hop deejay’s who-should-know, Karl Blue and Ad Roc (Perth’s RnB Central, Groove 101.7 The Drop), Che’nelle embodies and delivers a diverse, unique form of “NuUrban” music that coalesces into other elements such as soul, reggae and dance hall. Her inspiration has led her to become, first and foremost, a singer/songwriter and producer. Her past collaborations include Australian artistes such as Israel, Audius (Delta Goodrem), Jarrad Rogers (Christine Anu, Daniel Merriweather, Jade MacRae) as well as Sweden’s Murlyn Publishing Group who are well-known for their work on Janet Jackson’s top ten hit “All Nite (Don’t Stop)”.
Found at the ripe age of three singing in her dad’s karaoke lounge, she knew then picking up the microphone was what she was born to do. Now all of twenty-two years, Che’nelle is setting the example to be the first “Australian Urban Diva” with silky-surprising vocals that can rival Mariah Carey and even Beyonce. Creating an infectious r’n’b sound, she is also very diverse in the different rhythms of soul, reggae and dancehall. This diversity began with her introduction to riddims by Perth’s own DJ Ryan and she laced her voice and style upon the lion paw riddim (ima pray), valentine riddim (oh my) and the military riddim (I got my rights).

Lending her voice to Dj Ryan’s upcoming mixtapes, Sydney DUB mixtape king DJ Nick Toth (Up in the Club 4), Messiahbolical’s Throwaway Rhymes (UK), America’s finest The BumSquad Djz, Music Choice DJ Sir Charles Dixon (NY), Dawn Robinson, Eric Benet, New York’s Cocoa Chanelle and catching the attention of Tim Westwood (UK) – she is quickly becoming known as a force to reckon with within the genre.

On a national tip, Che’nelle conquered the Sydney R’n’B Scene, winning the “Ride wit Joe” 2005 Flowcase Competition at the Cave Nightclub and supporting crooner, Joe at his Sydney show at Luna Park. She has also completed her Diploma of Contemporary Music at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts, Edith Cowan University and is looking at breaking into larger avenues.

Che’nelle is known in the industry as vibrant and charismatic, dedicating her heart and soul to music. This has resulted in a spawn of underground urban hits on Groove 101.7, and becoming the 2003 WAM winner of the R’n’B Category Song-Writing Competition, affiliated with Triple J.
Currently working on her solo debut effort, Che’nelle is the fresh and alluring urban diverse sound unheard of to the Australian urban scene but what is definitely needed.
