Calibe is – purity, conscious, conscience and light. You can feel it in her aura and you can hear it in her music. Her style is a multi-categorical fusion of Reggae, Dancehall, Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul. She has clearly grown musically in the 7 years since she first ventured into legendary Sly & Robbie's Taxi Camp.
Often in the shadows, Calibe caught a break when she became a finalist in the 2002 Caribbean Music Expo Star Search. She has gone on to make cameo appearances on recent albums from Ghost “Under the Moonlight”, the Innocent Kru “Innocent”, Big Yard “Sexy Lady Explosion” and the latest dancehall compilation released by Sly & Robbie “Tablas”, as well as gaining solo recognition for her single “Natty Dread” in 2002. Upcoming feature projects include Junior Kelly's August 2003 release “Smile” and Florida based DJ GQ's syndicated mixtape.
After having recorded and co-written the Sly and Robbie produced track You Babe with Beenie Man, which appears on his most recent release Tropical Storm (Virgin), she has spent the last several months touring with the international superstar. She has been featured with him on Virgin promotional tours through the US and Europe, showcasing her talent on such prestigious stages as Soul Train and Showtime at the Apollo. She also appeared on widely broadcasted UK and Europe television and radio programs including CD UK and The Jules Holland Show. She has been featured on the Shocking Vibes produced “Tropical Storm Tour”, hitting nearly every state in the US and several cities in Canada. While continuing to tour in the Caribbean, Calibe is hard at work, flying back and forth to the US to write and record with such producers as Nottz, SA-RA Creative Partners, Baby Paul and Mike Risko and Kwame ‘K1 Mill' Holland.
In recent years she has earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, but her primary focus has been becoming a recognized writer and vocalist. To date she has worked in studio in the Caribbean, the United States and Europe. Citing Stevie Wonder as an inspiration for his delivery and writing style, and Bob Marley as an inspiration both as an artisan of lyric and melody and in his ability to break down musical barriers, it is her personal and artistic goal to continue in that path. As an unparalleled song-crafter with rich, endearing vocals, Calibe is poised to take the world.
