Burntface is a movement… A movement which speaks to those we feel are largely unspoken to. Burntface is not a voice in the darkness- it is what happens when the darkness itself starts to speak. Burntface is a process that begins with the realization of our collective struggle and finds its power in an inconspicuous wink to the millions of people who comprehend that we humans have far more similarities than differences. Burntface consists of approximately two-dozen musicians: singers: rappers: web designers: filmmakers: activists: schoolteachers: painters: and photographers: yet our passive sympathizers are estimated in the thousands worldwide. Burntface is known internationally as an Abesha(Ethiopian/Eritrean) Hip Hop group: notably for our original underground classic recording “U Abesha?†We can now be better described as a Multimedia Pan African Collective. Hip Hop music is just one of many things we create. We are comprised of members across the globe that chooses to use their unique arts/skills as tools for spreading social awareness.
