Bob Marley

Robert Nesta Marley — born February 6, 1945 in Nine Mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica — is the most celebrated reggae musician of all time and one of the most influential figures in the history of popular music. The founder and lead vocalist of The Wailers, Marley transformed reggae from a Jamaican phenomenon into a global movement of spiritual resistance and cultural pride. His catalog — including Exodus, Rastaman Vibration, Catch a Fire, and Legend — has sold hundreds of millions of copies worldwide. He passed away on May 11, 1981 from cancer, but his legacy — embodied in his children, his music, and the global reggae community — remains more vital than ever. His life inspired the 2024 biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
