The Brokers

The Brokers are an original five piece reggae and ska band from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Formed in late 2004: three culturally diverse guys experienced through other bands in Texas and Venezuela - Adrian Valdez (guitar/vocals): Jesus Garcia: (guitar/vocals): and Mark McPherson (bass) - got together through Dallas Observer ads: just wanting to play original music that incorporated their love of traditional Jamaican ska: rocksteady: and reggae rhythms with their other influences from jazz: latin: rock: and soul. Their main goal was to create music that gave people something easy to dance to and different to listen to: have fun doing it: and try and remain faithful to the influences and rhythms being drawn upon. These include Steel Pulse: Bob Marley: The Specials: and The Slackers amongst many more. After some setbacks with the rest of the band: the original idea is being realized and shared with the additions of Eric Yacula on drums and Marcus Brunt on trombone. Recently starting to play shows again with bands like Fort Worth greats Pablo and The Hemphill 7 and Confusatron: they have a diverse and constantly growing set of original tunes with a little of everything for everyone: and always a great groove that is quickly becoming distinct to them.
