JAH-N-I: is a band that has been brought together for a purpose with the multicultural player’s of instruments forming one cultural sound. This band has captivated their audience that’s been looking for a change: a change that has meaning and reason. The hardcore bass lines and kick drum reminds people of a revolution. The lyrics bring the consciousness to a divine level of thought. Wiping away all chaos and RA-eyes’ing life into beings again. Sounds of the bongo drum rejuvenate the ancestor’s soul and the guitar and keys bring joyful but sorrowful tears to the listeners. JAH-N-I is an original and soulful sound that has been created with a purpose and the purpose is to RA-eyes the JAH-N-I.......in you!!JAH-N-I was created through Barriffe Mackenzie now known as Jahriffe. Jahriffe was inspired through the principles and livity of Rastafari to use music for the upliftment of the worlds consciousness. Jahriffe was born Barriffe Mackenzie in Boston Mass. Grew up in New York city. Heavily influence by reggae music and the sound system environment. Has time went on Barriffe started his own sound system called Poison Clan which grew very popular in the Bronx New York area. Circumstances caused Barriffe to move back to Boston Mass to live with his sister at the age of seventeen.Back and forth to New York Barriffe develop an interest in the spiritual evolution of Rastafari. Through the re-education he started to feel a need to share his inspiration with others and he drew for his first love music. Being influence by ones like Bob Marley’s album Black Survival and Buju Banton single Destiny . “ I remember the smile on Buju’s face at the Bay Side Expo in Boston I knew that’s where I wanted to be”The first instrument Barriffe played was keyboards then proceeded to link with others inspired by the livity of Rastafari: played bass for his first band called ADDIS ABABAND. After the first year and a half of ADDIS ABABAND the band members separated “ I think we needed more growth but it’s Jah work you know”. Still pushing forward Barriffe by then known as Jahriffe formed JAH-N-I roots band.Since then JAH-N-I has shared stages with Freddie McGregor: Sista Carol : Midnite : Up lifters : Black Rebels and has appeared live on radio . Boston no.1 reggae station 88.9 also coverage in the Boston Herald news paper: Lowell Mass Sun Article and many venues in the northeastern area.JAH-N-I now resides in Dorchester/Boston: Massachusetts and is hitting the world with the sound of upliftment. With a holistic vibration of Mind: Body and Soul.
