Ron Lacks

Born and bred in the hills of St. Mary, Jamaica. Ron lacks grew up admiring the talents of <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=24">Sugar Minott</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=652">Half Pint</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=148">Jr. Reid</a>, and <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=497">Pinchers</a>. There were artists like <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=240">Sammy Dread</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=197">Mykal Rose</a>, and <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=26">Bob Marley</a> who also had a great impact on him as well. He started singing out on the local sound systems in his area of Jamaica. After completing Mico College in Jamaica, stage shows followed. Then his first recording came in the form of "Positive Application." The singing Mr. Lacks then moved to Miami, Fl. There he recorded several songs on the Makalprin record label (which are still available). The first single was "One Day Conscious", "Prayer" and "Majority Rules" followed. </p>
<p>Then the link came with the Outlaw <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=752">Terry Ganzie</a>. They redid Ron's first song "Positive Response" and named it "Positive Application." This song was evetually picked up by Mesa/Bluemoon and distributed by <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/labelDetail.jsp?lid=79">Atlantic Records</a>. They put it on their album called "Strictly Underground:Reggae's Next Generation." Now it is available through their music club and is still selling. Ron returned to Jamaica on several occasions. This led to recording for <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/labelDetail.jsp?lid=90">Digital-B</a> and resulted in "Social Unrest," "Chant Dem Down" and "Flipback Philosophy," which ended up on the album "Total Togetherness Vol.2." Ron also recorded the song "Sideshow" the 1974 classic #1 from Blue Magic on CD single. </p>
<p>Currently, Lacks is working with <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/labelDetail.jsp?lid=1138">KULCHA SHOK MUZIK</a> and has recorded three singles. They are all available on their CD "KULCHARAL DANCEHALL." The songs are "Move Along," "Monogamous Relation" and "In This Together." "In This Together" is apart of the video "Tree Roots Medley". Ron Lacks is the main songwriter in the Kulcha Shok stable. <a href="http://www.mpulse.com/songs2.asp?sID=4293"><strong>
