Morgan Heritage

Until their arrival in 1992, reggae had not seen or heard a band quite like Morgan Heritage. Self proclaimed Soldiers of the Lord, their music breathes spirituality and positivity. Much like the Wailers before them, Morgan Heritage captures the vibrations of the Lord and Spirit of Rastafari in both their music and their lives.

Born in New York, the band consists of five of the 29 children of Denroy Morgan, former lead vocalist of the Black Eagles - lead vocalists Una, aged 25, Peter, 23, Gramps, 24, (who also plays the keyboards), rhythm guitarist Lukes, 21, and percussionist Mr Mojo who is 19.

Rastas since birth, the spirit of Jah is an omnipresent in their music. Often set in front of a penetrating roots backdrop Una, Peter and Gramps' vocals appear more suited to R&B rhythms. The roots sound and soulful vocals may almost be a contradiction in terms, but here it is a wonderful contrast.
