Bongo Chilly

<p>Bongo Chilli was born Clayton Brown in Trelawny on Jamaica's north coast. Although he is a dancehall artist, he has the ability to ride any rhythm with his versatile, and often humourous style. Growing up as a child he was surrounded by reggae music and started writing his own lyrics around 1987, after being inspired in particular by <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1831">Papa San</a>. </p>
<p>He appeared in his native Jamaica on stageshows supporting artists like <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=301">Bounty Killer</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1631">Nitty Kutchie</a> and <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1195">General Trees</a>, before moving to England five years ago. He then performed in Manchester courtesy of Black Music Unsigned (BMU) which was also shown on MTV. </p>
<p>Bongo Chilli was introduced to <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=236">Rootsman</a> by <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=2513">Daddy Freddy</a> in 2000 and soon recorded over a dozen hot dubplates for him. Once other soundmen heard them, he was soon employed to record many specials for sounds in Holland, Germany, Italy and Luxembourg. He has produced a few tracks for himself which are available to listen to and download at <a href="http://www.peoplesound.com/artist/bongochilli">www.peoplesound.com/artist/bongochilli</a>. </p>
<p>December 2001 saw the release of Bongo Chilli's debut single called "<em>Naa De Focus</em>", produced by African on the Humal label from Birmingham. Rootsman has produced a number of songs by Bongo Chilli. "<em>Action Alone</em>" was contained on Rootsman's "<em>New Testament</em>" album in 2002 and fresh for 2003 comes "<em>Read Your Bible</em>", currently on a 10" on <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/labelDetail.jsp?lid=56">Third Eye Studio</a>. </p>
