CMJ MUSIC MARATHON and VP Records Team up To Introduce

The New Generation Of Roots Reggae Music

New York-October 9, 2007 CMJ, the music network known to bring you new music first, and VP Records, the world’s largest reggae label, unite in New York City on Tuesday Oct. 16th at the Canal Room to showcase the new wave of roots reggae artists who are leading the genre in a fresh direction. The bill will include Etana, Duane Stephenson, Tarrus Riley and I-Wayne. This exclusive event will also kick off the annual CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival, which is held through October 16th-20th.

Each artist offers their own eclectic element to make this event special for reggae fans alike. Fresh on the scene, singer/songwriter Duane Stephenson delivers blissful melodies and poignant words from his debut album From August Town, released September 17th, 2007. Etana, the natural roots princess and the former back-up singer for Richie Spice, makes her solo debut with her original soulful sound. Tarrus Riley the breakthrough roots artist for 2007, has brought three #1 hits to Jamaica as well as his critically-acclaimed release, Parables. I-Wayne, the mystique prolific voice that swept the world away with his debut album Lava Ground, returns with his enchanting smooth sound on his eagerly awaited release, Book Of Life, set to hit stores this November 6th, 2007. He is one of the few roots and culture artists to receive heavy rotation on major urban/hip-hop radio as he did with his fiery hit, "Can’t Satisfy Her," on New York’s Hot 97 radio station. Together-this collective force of talented musicians
