Marvia Providence
<p>Dynamic, inspiring, and anointed are just a few adjectives that describe this performer. Marvia Providence formally "Marvia Wilson" has what it takes to make the top ranks in the world of gospel music. Born and raised in Clarendon, Jamaica, Marvia has been singing and praising the Lord since the tender age of eight. Whilst in Canada, Marvia created a buzz in the gospel circle, as the next voice in the gospel community. <br>

It was March 17, 1985, in the New Testament Church of God, during a Sunday evening worship service when Marvia took another step by surrendering her life to the Lord. Up to this point, even though she had been singing for several years, Marvia did not fully understand the calling of God on her life. She knew she would perform in front of many, but did not know it would come in the form of her own ministry. While performing on stage in Jamaica, Marvia heeded the call to go into evangelism, which led her to enroll in Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Ontario. <br>

Marvia graduated from Bible College in April 2002 with her bachelors in Biblical Studies. This has helped to better equip Marvia in delivering the message she wholehearted believers God has given her for this generation. In November 2001 Marvia was license as an ordained Evangelist. She now travels in this capacity fulfilling the mandate of her calling. <br>

Marvia's first recording was in '92 with the Toronto Mass Choir, where she performed as one of the soloist for their debut album <em>"Great Is Thy Glory"</em>. Her first solo Album was in '94; entitled <em>"To Much To Gain To Loose".</em> This was the world's first real taste of this spectacular artiste. <br>

Marvia's ministry has taken her to several parts of the United States, The Cayman Islands, England, Jamaica, Trinidad and Guyana. She has shared the stage with Gospel artiste such as, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=3669">The Grace Thrillers</a>, Kirk Franklin, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=2467">Carlene Davis</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=2626">George Banton</a>, <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=2720">Junior Tucker</a> and <a href="http://www.bigupradio.com/artistDetail.jsp?aid=1629">Stichie</a>. <br>

Marvia attends the Erin Mills Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Lennox Walker. When Marvia has a break in her schedule, she serves as one of the Worship Leaders and assist in several other ministries in this local church. Marvia believes in giving back to her community and volunteers her services to several charitable organizations as the needed arises. Marvia was also part of a group of caring artiste of the Explorer Company, who spent a day with troubled students in a Toronto's inner city school. That event has touched the hearts of many. To show their appreciation, the group was presented with a plaque from the Toronto School for their contribution. <br>

The sky is the limit for this talented artist. "Explorer Recording Company" is proud to announce Marvia's new CD and Video release entitled "Shabach" which was recorded live at her sold out concert in December 2001. This project incorporates some of her musical styles, from the warm sounds of the West Indies to the traditional sounds of southern Gospel. Marvia manages to find a place for everyone within her music. Distribution in the Caribbean has been taken up by the very successful “Caribbean Gospel” Distribution, run by Main Street Record label, Danny Brownie and his wife Collette. Sales are doing very well and Marvia is now touring and promoting this album. </p>
<p>Marvia has just finished a festive tour which took her to Jamaica where she performed two sell out shows and to the Caymans where she performed to sold out audience. Marvia has been asked to perform at the New York gospel awards, put on my Gill Bailey and is now booking shows for 2003.<br>
<br>
Marvia is also getting ready to work on a third album that will be entitled <em>"Thank you"</em>. This album will express Marvia's profoundest gratitude to God for his continued faithfulness, and unmerited favor to her over the years. She continues to crave the prayerful support, of those who have been a true source of strength and encouragement over the years. </p>
<p>Marvia Providence is a gem in the eyes of all who know here and god is the warmth in Marvia's heart that keeps the fire burning to spread the word of the lord. </p>
