<p><strong>Garvey</strong> was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica with lineage stretching back to philosopher Marcus Garvey, his great great grand father. He grew up in Hermitage, August Town. Growing up around University of West Indies he had the opportunity to rub shoulders with lots of musicians, like Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, U Roy, Dennis Brown, Israel Vibration, Fred Locks and Josey Wales just to name a few. Garvey�??s music and Rasta faith is influenced by the many Twelve Tribes meetings. Niyabinghi chantings and dances he attended.</p>
<p>In the early 1980's Garvey moved to Montego Bay and joined a band called Barry Saddler and the Merry Wonders. He performed all of the North Coast, in all the major hotels and clubs. The band broke up, members joined new bands and Garvey begun spinning records with sounds like Twilight Hi Fi and Ticka Tone. Garvey kept writing and singing.</p>
<p>In 1984 Garvey moved to Los Angeles, California. He joined a band called Black Wadda and performed all over Los Angeles while working in studios on his album project. In the 1990's Garvey moved to Northern California where he joined up with Ras Kiddus and Ranking Scroo recording and performing. Some of the recordings were used for Garvey�??s Astonish Album. His album is a true testament of the struggles and journeys it takes to produce this Astonishing music. </p>
<p>The producing of this album has involved some of the most talented and hard working Reggae musicians today. The album was mixed in Hollywood, CA by Hopeton Brown (Scientist). Astonish was recorded for the Vision in Legacy music, a new label in the making, look out for other productions coming from this label.</p>
<p>Because it doesn�??t matter where you come from, or who you may be, Garvey is one of the most talented song writer, arranger, composer, and performer around today. His music is fully rooted, consciously directed to fulfill the legacy, with a vision of harmony for all the races. </p>
