Jah Cure delivers outstanding performance at Sumfest 2009
Jul 30, 2009

International reggae artiste Jah Cure was in awesome form as the closing act for International Night I of the greatest reggae festival on earth, Reggae Sumfest 2009.

On the morning of Saturday, July 25, the Danger Zone recording artiste took the stage at approximately 6:30 to deliver to the thousands inside Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre, Montego Bay an unforgettable performance.

Backed by the Antidote band expertly led by Nigel Staff, with the beautiful harmony of his three back up singers, the Cure made the world know why it was called Reggae Sumfest and why he was worthy to bring the curtains down on the penultimate night.

Putting the cap on a night that featured names like Ne-Yo, Jazmine Sullivan, Lutan Fyah, Queen Ifrica, Jah Cure's big fan Keri Hilson, Morgan Heritage, Coco Tea, Stream, Dubtonic Kru, Anthony Able and stablemate Hezron, Jah Cure was a man on a mission with a message that his fans waited patiently to soak up.

With Antidote strumming up the beat, the Cure proved why he was one of reggae's leading ambassadors as he launched on stage with 'Freedom' before moving into 'Jah Bless Me'. Primed to put on a show like no other, even better than his European sets, Jah Cure was on fire with just what the doctor ordered as the warm sun awake from its deep slumber.

Attired in full Gucci from head to toe, Jah Cure was in command in his approximate one hour and 15-minute set, delivering hits like 'Sticky', 'Reflection', 'Longing For' and 'Good Morning Jah'. He presented an all-star cast, as several big names joined him on stage, like Jah Mason for the combination tune 'Run Come Love Me', Fantan Mojah for the inspirational 'Great Men', Jahranimo for the chart ridding 'Free', and, of course, the beautiful and sexy Phyllisia for the international number one 'Call On Me' – one of the biggest songs of 2009.

Jah Cure's high level of maturity and professionalism and his boundless energy as he masterfully worked the stage proved that he was worthy to be deemed one of the high priests of reggae.

Like a true champion, he left his Reggae Sumfest fans longing for much much more.

It's no wonder international R&B singer and songwriter, Keri Hilson (who performed on the same night, famous for hits like 'Turn Me On', 'Energy', 'Run Away' and 'Take Me As I Am'), is such a big fan of the reggae artiste. Keri made the world know that she was excited about her Sumfest debut and meeting one of her favourite artistes, Jah Cure, on her Twitter page long before arriving in Jamaica. After her performance and meeting the singer at the festival, the talented singer kept her Twitter fans abreast of everything as Jah Cure gave her a personal tour of the west end of island, allowing her to sample many of the delightful pleasures Jamaica had to offer…and Keri was in heaven. Jah Cure and Jamaica all to herself…wow!!
