Culture singer Anthony B is back with another album for Greensleeves Records. Rise Up is Anthony B's fourth collaboration with producer Frenchie, who also brought us 1996's Real Revolution, 2005's Black Star and 2007's Higher Meditation.
Rise Up maintains a more roots vibe than his previous releases and spreads hope during a time when the world needs it most. "Open your eyes and see the sun." Anthony B sets the tone with these lyrics from the acoustic title track. With Jah as his true source of inspiration, the album's centerpiece and stand out tracks like first single "Enter The Kingdom Of Zion" feat. Horace Andy, "Iley, Iley, Iley Iley Selassie I" and "Stop Fight Reggae" reflect his perseverance.
This impressive musical collection boasts a number of duets with the likes of Chezidek, Lukie D and the legendary Horace Andy, hitmaker for Coxone Dodd's Studio One and who more recently collaborated with Massive Attack. Producers Sly & Robbie, Lenky, Dalton Brownie, Christopher Birch, The Firehouse Crew and Mafia & Fluxy are also some of top Jamaican talent represented on this long awaited release.
Anthony B has fortified his trademark sound into international stardom and used his prolific words to confront political injustices and unite the people. Beginning in 1992, the fervent singer teamed up with Richard "Bell" Bello, , producer for Garnet Silk and Everton Blender, and created a slew of records and releases such as: "Repentance Time", "Fire Pon Rome", "One Thing" and "Raid Di Barn". Anthony B followed up with critically acclaimed albums such as Real Revolutionary, Universal Struggle, Black Starand Higher Meditation. He also struck out on his own to produce 3 albums independently, started his own label, Born Fire Records, and released two collaboration albums (Too Strong with Sizzla and Three Wise Men with Sizzla and Luciano). Over the years, he has collaborated with artists like hip hop stars Bone Crusher and Snoop Dogg to urban & pop singers Akon, Wyclef Jean and R. Kelly. Today, his music continues to gives strength to the downtrodden to believe that better must come.
